A collection of alleged photographs of Grays.

The “Gray” has become the universally recognized alien type. While their description became increasingly standardized with time, with abductees describing their eyes as larger and blacker by the 1990s, the basic type has been reported by abductees since the 1960s. (Military witness descriptions go back to the late 1940s, but those were not published until decades later.)

Their prominence in abduction reports led Thomas E. Bullard to call them “standard humanoids” in his study of all published cases up until 1985 (The Measure of a Mystery). He described their main features as follows: 4-5 feet tall, huge teardrop-, egg-, or pear-shaped heads, thin necks, large teardrop-, almond-shaped or “wraparound” eyes, small or almost nonexistent mouths, noses and ears, gray hairless skin, skinny limbs, narrow shoulders, sunken chests, often 4-fingered hands, frail and weak bodies, without muscle tone or definition, sickly looking, perhaps 50 pounds, locomotion described as labored and fumbling, stiff and mechanical, often wearing skin-tight, one-piece jumpsuits. They are usually described as telepathic, clinical and disinterested, unfeeling and cerebral, mechanically efficient, indifferent and unfriendly (though sometimes friendly and polite). They often appear in groups and appear identical, like clones. They betray a hierarchical social structure with specialized roles, e.g. escort, leader, examiner/doctor, but no signs of individual personality traits or distinguishing features. (According to David Jacobs, they even lack names.) By the 1990s, identifiable sub-types had emerged, e.g. tall and short, and seemingly hybridized forms closer to or further from a more human appearance. (Tall Grays are often perceived to be “older” and in charge of the small Grays.)

In his last book, Walking Among Us (2015), Jacobs described summarized their function as follows:

Small grays [3–3.5 feet] are basically helpers. They are the ones who come down to Earth to abduct humans and take them to the UFOs. Onboard, they help abductees remove their clothes and then escort them around the UFO for scheduled procedures. When the abduction is almost over, they give the abductees back their clothes, and, depending on their mental condition, help them get dressed. They often accompany abductees back to their normal environment. Small grays all wear extremely tight-fitting, almost skin-like clothes. [Other abductees describe them as wearing more obvious one-piece uniforms or leotards.]

Tall grays [4–4.5 feet] perform more complex procedures on abductees—egg-and-sperm harvesting, embryo implantation, fetal extraction, and neurological engagement. They are the main agents in abduction processes for most abductees. Both small and tall grays have noses and mouths, although they do not eat or talk through their mouths. They have no teeth and no apparent lungs. They do not breathe.

Abductees describe gender differences among grays—some are described as more “graceful” or “seem feminine,” and are therefore thought to be female. Most, however, are apparently not graceful, nor do they exude femininity. These grays are assumed to be male. Tall gray males can be substantively communicative, but most of the time they engage in minimal communication with abductees.

In Alien Agendas, Dolan adds that tall Grays (taller than the 4.5 feet mentioned by Jacobs) “seem to have specific male and female genders,” with those perceived as feminine described as “tender and even emotionally empathetic.” Abductees sometimes witness a tall (6-8 feet) hooded being whose face is not visible. In the rare cases when the face is visible, some abductees recall it to be that of a tall Gray.

In 1987’s Communion, Whitley Strieber commented on the Grays’ apparent lack of individuality, speculating that they may operate as a hive mind – suggested by their workmanlike performance of repetitive, task-oriented actions. Communion contains the following exchange with a group of Budd Hopkins’s abductees:

Sam: “They were almost like under military discipline.” […] “They had instructions and they followed their instructions, and that was it.”

Whitley: “Do you suppose we see robots?”

Sam: “I thought of that.” […]

Jenny: “That’s right, I remember them all walking the same way.”

Sally: “Moving in unison, speaking in unison?” (Unified movement is often reported, such as three individuals walking in lockstep.)

Joan: “I can imagine something above them that’s speaking through them. They’re to do their job.”

Jenny: “You don’t feel any personality—”

Other accounts from the 1980s raised the possibility that Grays were in some sense artificial or manufactured, e.g. Betty Andreasson reporting Gray fetuses being grown in tanks, suggestive of either the use of artificial wombs or some type of cloning or biological engineering.

Grace/Valerian’s Matrix II (1990) describes the Grays as working for “and exposing themselves to us on behalf of and instead of the Reptilians.” (Lorgen’s Maarit similarly says, “They are workers for these reptilian entities.”) They have no emotion or individuality and are infertile, “using material from us to recreate themselves, by creating their next generation with hybrids.” Echoing Strieber, they are described as possessing a hive mind. Curiously, Valerian adds that they actually fear humanity, “because they know we are potentially powerful beings.” While they may insist that they own us, this is mere propaganda, and their apparent control over us is in reality “based on intimidation and advanced technology.”

Just as with Nordics and Reptilians, military and intelligence insiders also assert the reality of the Grays, and they appear in multiple crash-retrieval reports (discussed more in a future series).

Origins

Aside from the Grays’ primary role in abductions, the Cassiopaeans have described how they “now want your planet” (1994-7-30) and that while there are allegedly 2,750,000 of them operating on our world (1995-10-14), they are “not nearly as ubiquitous” as we might think (2002-9-14). They are said to have a “transfer center” base off the coast of California (1994-10-22), perhaps near Santa Catalina Island, and to operate bases on the Moon and Mars (1994-10-25, 1995-3-4).

Like the Nordics and Reptilians, they are said to be extraterrestrial in that they ultimately come from elsewhere in our galaxy, but also hyperdimensional in that they are 4D in nature and thus occupy that realm. As described in volume 1, this 4D nature results in the need for physical nutrition (in the form of blood absorbed through the skin) while “visiting” 3D.

Q: (L) Are the little Gray beings from Zeta Reticuli also?

A: Yes.

September 24, 1995

A: Orions created Grays in 5 varieties, as cybergenetic beings [see further below], and installed them on Zeta Reticuli [planets] 1, 2, 3, and 4, as well as on 2 planets orbiting Barnard’s Star. [They later said there were “many variations” of Grays (1997-8-9).]

When Betty Hill asked her abductors where they were from, they showed her a star map that didn’t correspond to any visible constellation. Her recollection of this map, drawn while under hypnosis, was included in John G. Fuller’s book on the case, The Interrupted Journey (1966). In 1968, amateur astronomer Marjorie Fish attempted to decipher the map using 3D models based on then-current estimates of the distances of known stars. She concluded the map represented Zeta Reticuli as the aliens’ home system. Some, like Carl Sagan, argued that the correspondences were mere chance, while others, like Condon Committee scientist David Saunders, thought the odds of finding such a match where 1 in 1,000. (See Dr. Frank Salisbury’s 1974 recreation here.) Despite a misleading statement in her obituary implying she had repudiated her results, Fish reportedly stood by her work until her death in 2013.

Regardless of the map’s accuracy, the link between Grays and Zeta Reticuli has persisted in abduction accounts, channeling (e.g. Nancy Lieder’s “ZetaTalk”) and insider sources. For example, Bob Lazar told Joe Rogan:

There was some paperwork that indicated that this [UFO] was from the Zeta Reticuli star system. How they obtained that, I haven’t the slightest idea. It wasn’t just from the Zeta Reticuli star system, it was what they called ZR3. It was the third planet in that star system. There was no other information about it, other than that’s supposedly where the craft came from.

Q: (L) How long, as we measure it, have the Grays been interacting with our race? […]

A: No. […] Time travelers, therefore, “time is ongoing.”

While the concept of time travel will be covered in its own future article, the C’s aren’t the only source to have suggested such a possibility, as mentioned in volume 1. Recall also the statement in the section on Reptilians that they have been “interfering with events” from “a completely still state of spacetime.” In a 1973 article for Saga, “The Disappearing Act,” John Keel catalogued several types of time anomalies associated with the phenomenon, such as missing time and more dramatic time slips. He traced the time-travel hypothesis back to the 1950s, noting:

[…] an entity calling himself “Ashtar” has a very long history. The name can be found in ancient mythology. Ashtar is still busy contacting people all over the world. He is as well known to spiritualists as he is to UFO enthusiasts. Could […] Ashtar belong to some mathematical anomaly, a world outside our own time field? […] An intelligence residing in a time frame outside our own may somehow be able to see our future, and our past, in a single glance. […] If the Ashtar apparitions are able to see – to know – our future, then they might need to manipulate certain events in our present. This manipulation is becoming more and more apparent in the worldwide occurrences of UFO sightings and manifestations.

To what end? Several have proposed the idea that the Grays are, somehow, “us.” Alfonso Martinez, in Yvonne Smith’s Chosen, said: “I’m part of them somehow, but I don’t look like them. She’s reassuring me that I’m like them, but not the way I understand.” One of Karla Turner’s subjects in Taken, Amy, said: “I feel that he [a Gray she had previously encountered] and I were very close once, we had been together once somewhere, and we had been the ‘same.’ It was like we were twins.” Whitley Strieber recounts the experience of Lori Barnes, his wife’s secretary, who told her abductor she feared it because it was so ugly. It responded: “One day, my dear, you will look just like us.”

Q: (L) Are they [i.e. Orion Grays] big-nosed Grays like I have read about in some sources?

A: Both kinds of Grays [i.e. tall and short].

Big-nosed Grays are not commonly reported, but they are referenced in some late 1980s and early 1990s sources, like Matrix II. Betty Hill had reported that in her dreams reliving her 1961 abduction, the beings had eyes like a cat’s and large noses (Barney recalled large, slanted eyes and two slits for nostrils, more in line with a standard Gray). Meagan Elliott also described an otherwise standard Gray with “a broad nose” in her 1980 abduction. As Bullard writes, “A few abductees describe humanoid noses as long and pointed, pug, large, or normal instead of the usual small and structureless variety.”

Prominent noses also make an appearance in the alleged 1964 (or 1971) Holloman Air Force Base landing. Briefly, filmmaker Robert Emenegger was promised by the Air Force that footage of this incident would be provided for inclusion in his 1974 documentary, UFOs: Past, Present, and Future. According to documentarian James Fox, Emenegger’s producer Allan Sandler viewed the footage, shown to him by Paul Shartle, former security manager at Norton AFB responsible for all audiovisual materials. It showed 3 discs hovering above Holloman AFB, one of which landed. Out of the craft came 3 large-nosed beings with small mouths and cat-like pupils. (According to Dr. Eric Davis, George H.W. Bush told him that he had personally seen footage that matches the description of the Holloman case. Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford were also allegedly shown the video. See Joe Murgia’s X thread on the case.)

Q: (L) Are they insectoid?

A: No.

Q: (L) Do they have hive souls?

A: No. [Contra Strieber and Valerian above.]

Q: (L) Do they have emotions?

A: No.

Q: (L) Are the little Gray beings…

A: Cybergenetic. [A portmanteau of cybernetic (relating to systems, control and communication in machines or organisms) and genetic (relating to genes and heredity). This suggests technology integrating cybernetic principles (e.g. artificial intelligence) with genetics (e.g. synthetic biology) such as a bioengineered organism with embedded cybernetic controls.]

Q: (L) Are they created by the Lizards?

A: Yes.

Q: (L) Do they have souls?

A: They are decoys.

Q: (DM) Are the Grays STO?

A: No. Cybergenetic.

In recent years, the leading interpretation of Gray aliens is that they are artificial beings. But in 1994, perhaps the only precedent for this idea was Michael Topper, who called them “biobots” in Valerian’s Matrix III (1992): “biological robots ‘viewed through’—like remote t.v. equipment—and manipulated long-distance by the ‘real’ aliens invisibly parallel our reality.” Soviet test pilot Col. Dr. Marina Popovich had used the same term in her 1991 book UFO Glastnost (only published in German). In his book with Bill Birnes, The Day after Roswell (1997), Lt. Col. Philip Corso suggested we might consider “the EBEs [ET biological entities] as described in the medical autopsy reports humanoid robots rather then life forms, specifically engineered for long distance travel through space or time.”

Also in 1997, Nigel Kerner argued that Grays were soulless, bio-synthetic beings in The Song of the Greys. He expanded on these ideas in 2010’s Grey Aliens and the Harvesting of Souls, portraying them as “sophisticated self-aware machines” seeking to master death by creating their own souls via the genetic manipulation of humanity. Summarizing his views, Kerner’s assistant described the Grays to Nick Redfern (in Top Secret Alien Abduction Files) as “synthetic biological programmed artificially intelligent machine entities.” (More on Kerner’s theory below.) Since then, a handful of prominent figures in ufology have presented similar ideas:

• Tom DeLonge (2016): “UFOs are bad news. Deal with it, they just are. […] These creatures, they potentially don’t have souls, they’re like clones. And they worship their own technology to some degree.” And in 2023: “They’re robots.”

• Moira McGhee, The Alien Gene (2017): “A commonality in these accounts indicates fair-haired humanoids in charge, with smaller Greys performing assisting roles. I have always considered the possibility that these little entities are biological robots.”

• Richard Dolan, The Alien Agendas (2020): “Short grays appear to come in one neutral gender. This clearly speaks to them as purely artificial biological creations.” (He speculates that the tall Grays “may not be purely artificial.”)

• Terry Lovelace, The Reckoning (2020): “I believe the ones I encountered were not living conscious beings. They are not sentient like you and me. They may be a mix of machine, quantum computing, nano technology and organic material. They lack free will and are not able to determine their own actions, they do as they are told. They are engineered and manufactured somewhere. Even at the age of six or so I called them ‘worker bees.’”

• Garry Nolan (2022): “So I think – and again, this is from inside the intelligence community – most of what we think we are seeing are avatars – biological robots – that are basically put there to be the minions, if you will.”

• Bruce Rapuano, Dominion Lost (2023): “there is both a theoretical rationale and evidence that […] the small humanoids/greys were bioengineered by some master species as a subservient worker class.”

• David Grusch (2023): “Grusch shared with [journalist Walter Kirn] certain private notions about the NHI phenomenon – the creatures may be telepathic; they may use forms of high-tech camouflage; their ships may exist in dimensions beyond our four; their bodies may be drones or avatars.”

• Mike Masters (2023): “There is some indication that they’re making sort of robotic, droid, avatars, whatever you want to call them, but potentially – and we’re not far from this technology now – biologically constructed ones.”

• Ryan Wood (2024): “These are just biological, disposable drones. […] They’re not really people; they’re soulless.”

Peter Levenda and Tom DeLonge expanded on this idea in the first volume of their non-fiction Sekret Machines trilogy, Man (2019), speculating that the Grays are “hybrids of organic life forms and machines,” artificially intelligent, or perhaps “artificially conscious”:

Thus the speculation is raised that perhaps the “pilots” of these craft are not organic, flesh-and-blood creatures at all, but robots. Cyborgs. Machines. Such a possibility would also explain the machine-like (and seemingly sexless) nature of the Grays.

The Grays may be […] part manufactured device and part organic being; however, the “manufactured device” element is an organic development of what was originally non-organic material, deliberately designed with specific vulnerabilities to ensure (a) that it does not operate too independently or autonomously and (b) that it cannot reproduce itself.

If such beings are “decoys” and the product of another intelligence, which would that be?

A: The “Greys” are cybergenetic probes of the “Lizard” beings […]

In 2011’s Real Monsters, Brad Steiger wrote: “Since my early investigation into the UFO enigma in the late 1960s, it has seemed apparent to me that […] the Grays […] may be representatives of technologically superior reptilian or amphibian humanoids.”

The C’s had previously said that Reptilians and Grays “have a similar genetic make-up in some ways” (1995-9-9). This may be reflected in some encounter reports. For example, in The UFO Abductors (1988), Steiger noted that the occupants’ eyes were often reported to be “snakelike”: “And, repeatedly, witnesses described an insignia of a flying serpent on a shoulder patch, a badge, a medallion, or a helmet.” (More on this insignia below.) Two of the subjects of Bullard’s 1987 study described their abductors as having “crocodile skin” (David Seewaldt and Brian Wilson). And in his UFO Crash Retrieval Status Report II (1980), Leonard Stringfield includes a sketch of the hand of a Gray body allegedly autopsied in 1962. It depicts 4 webbed, claw-like digits. In 2001, CIA doctor Christopher “Kit” Green told Dr. Colm Kelleher via email of an alien autopsy report he had read in 1987/1988. The heart was three-chambered (as opposed to four), “similar to reptilian design.” (Both Green and Kelleher were associated with Robert Bigelow’s National Institute for Discovery Science, or NIDS, at the time.)

A: […] the Grays are not natural parts of the short wave cycle, but rather an artificial creation by the Lizard beings […]

Q: (L) Since they are artificially created by the Lizard beings, does this mean they have no souls?

A: That’s correct.

Q: (L) How do they function? Are they like robots?

A: They function by interaction with the souls of the Lizard beings. This technology is extremely far in advance of that with which you are familiar, but the Gray beings are not only built and designed artificially, but also function as a projection mentally and psychically of the Lizard beings. They are like 4-dimensional probes.

Already hinted at above in Nolan’s statement, Topper’s “biobots” and the Communion excerpt (“something above them that’s speaking through them”), this concept is similar to that of an avatar, a body controlled by a separate intelligence. Ray Fowler made this idea explicit in his 1995 book, The Watchers II. Betty described witnessing a lab-type environment where the “Elders” (tall Nordics) were “growing eyeballs” for the “Watchers” (Grays), through which the Nordics “control” the Grays. As Fowler commented: “The Watchers in effect were living monitors for the Elders!” Betty called the Grays “servants” to the Nordics: “they can see everything […] through the greys’ eyes, and they can command them to do whatever they want.” She added that this was a much more complex process than simply acting as a type of video camera: “The greys are like walking or living cameras…and do the bidding of those tall ones.” One Elder told her: “They are our remote imaging surrogates.” Betty interpreted: “they’re connected to them in a way with bio-electric mind projections.”

Karin Wilkinson, in Stolen Seed, Evil Harvest (2023), called them “biological avatars”: “I believe that the shorter, younger-looking grey aliens are biological suits operated by two different sources. First, some are operated by artificial intelligence, making them like a living robot. I believe others are inhabited by demons.” (Abductee Christa Tilton had described them as “like an empty suitcase” in 1987).

Whitley Strieber also recently endorsed this idea, telling WatchMojo.com:

In other words, these shootdowns [of UFOs] are actually gifts, and if there are bodies involved – which there probably are sometimes – it’s always these little non-reproducing bodies […] When one of […] the tall five-foot-tall ones would show up at my house, she would often have a whole bunch of little ones around her. […] She communicated to me that this was the good army and they were all inhabited by her at the same time; they were all the same being. It’s just that she had all these avatars that she could send out into dangerous situations that she was curious about without worrying about getting herself killed. I would think killing one of the biologically complete ones would be very unwise. The others, the little ones, they don’t care. It pisses them off because they lose something in there, obviously, I mean, they have manufacturing and they have an economy of some kind, just like we do, and so something that it took work to build is destroyed.

In his 2025 book, The Fourth Mind, Strieber describes the small Grays as “not really independent entities,” possibly a sort of “symbiotic/robotic extension” of the tall Grays that can be “deployed into dangerous situations” to carry out tasks:

[…] they might be something like diving suits for a creature that is not normally physical, but which sometimes needs physical utility. […] It seems likely that it would create bodies that it could use to penetrate into the physical, in order to extract what it wants […] If the cadavers were originally designed to be entered and left at will by such beings, then they might not only be artificial, but also disposable, which would be why they have been left behind in crashes.

The first part of the book compares claims from the anonymous Reddit post summarizing alleged results of biological analysis of such cadavers with Strieber’s own experiences, leading him to support its authenticity. The document, for example, calls such beings “artificial, ephemeral and disposable organisms” and claims that their DNA shows signs of “crude copying and pasting.” Strieber speculates that perhaps “they have run out of novel DNA combinations and can no longer generate individuals that have not already existed.”

Crash-retrieval insider Jake Barber told Ross Coulthart in 2025:

There is some evidence that shows it might be the case that these are something like soft-tissue drones or lab meat that was programmed in order to operate craft […] so it really begs the question. But, ironically, while some of the biological cargo that comes with these craft is not conscious, consciousness itself is how you interact and pilot the craft, which is ironic because for the first time ever, the biological creatures inside are not conscious, but the craft is.

He later told WatchMojo.com:

One of the potential outcomes might be that bodies or beings that have been recovered in the past were something like biological technology or artificial biological technology […] or biological robots. That would be an interesting thing, if you could upload AI and give it a piece of equipment that was a biological piece of equipment as opposed to nuts and bolts.

While Strieber speculates that the Grays’ controllers may be nonphysical in some way (and Wilkinson believes them to be nonphysical demons), the C’s present another option. The Grays are avatars of another, biological 4D being: the Reptilians. They are used not to project from a nonphysical state into a physical one, as Strieber suggests, but to probe from a physical 4D state into a 3D one. They are both probes and decoys, allowing penetration into our realm without showing their true form.

Strieber also believes that the “visitors” are four-dimensional in nature and that their abilities reflect this nature: “they can control their bodies’ density and appearance in ways we cannot.” He ascribes to them a number of abilities (e.g. ultra-fast travel, invisibility, levitation, telepathy, mind control, the removal of souls from bodies, the creation of false memories in others), remarking that “it may be that all of these powers are primarily internal to the beings themselves, and not technologies at all” – akin to the “siddhis” or advanced mental abilities common to many mystical traditions.

Q: (D) Are they [i.e. Orions] robots? [The word “robot” originates from the Czech robota, meaning “forced labor.”]

A: Some.

Q: (L) What do the robots look like?

A: Grays.

As already quoted in volume 1, the Law of One contains this: “the crusaders of Orion use two types of entities to do their bidding, shall we say. The first type is a thought-form [e.g. Men-in-Black]; the second, a kind of robot.” Witnesses describe literal robots in occupant cases going back to the 1950s, with Bullard calculating their frequency in abduction reports as around 5%.

During his 1977 interrogation/narco-hypnosis session carried out by AFOSI, Terry Lovelace recalls telling them: “I don’t think the little ones are even alive. They’re not living beings. They could be robots. They’re having trouble with the laces on my boots […] They grey ones are their [i.e. insect-like beings] drones to do his bidding and help him.” While Terry made this statement in 1977 – before anyone else had proposed such an idea in print – it was only published recently, in 2018’s Incident at Devils Den.

Q: (T) On the SETI program they send out pi on a radio program, saying, “Intelligent life will understand pi because pi is a basic idea in circular mathematics.” You have to be able to figure pi in order to calculate circumference and diameter and so on in circles and arcs. So, I ask, what is the good of sending out pi in base-ten when, say, the Grays only have 8 digits on their fingers? What is pi in base 8? 3.1416 means absolutely nothing to someone who is working in another system base.

A: Grays are cybergenetic beings, therefore they use mathematics they are programmed to use. […]

Q: (L) I am assuming that they are programmed to use the mathematics of the Lizard beings, their creators, is that correct?

A: Variable.

Q: (L) Well, if the Grays are cybergenetic probes of the Lizard beings, and, in effect soulless […]

A: […] No being that is given intelligence to think on its own is […] completely soulless […] whether it be a natural intelligence or an artificially constructed intelligence. […] It does have […] what could be loosely referred to as soul imprint. This may be a collection of psychic energies that are available in the general vicinity […] though in reality it is all far more complex […] Your technology on 3rd density, which […] has been aided somewhat by interactions with those that you might refer to as “aliens,” is now reaching a level whereby the artificially created intelligences can, in fact, begin to develop, or attract some soul-imprint energy. […] For example: your computers, which are now on the verge of reaching the level whereby they can think by themselves, will begin to develop faint soul imprint.

Q: (Ellipse) Is there such a thing as an alien race completely directed by AI [artificial intelligence]?

A: No.

This was the position of Nigel Kerner, who did the most thorough job developing the idea of Grays as synthetic biological beings. Kerner published a third and final book in 2022, titled Grey Aliens and Artificial Intelligence, where he used such descriptors as “entirely artificial,” “biomachine/roboid” (“robotic entities formed mainly of organic material,” e.g. “artificial, synthetic DNA”), “probes to gather information,” “nothing more than AI machines,” “super-quantum, computer-driven, artificially intelligent machines running on a program.”

While he sometimes suggests they may have a creator, he argues that they are a “naturally contrived program” of the cosmos, the epitome of separation from the “Godform” – unlike living things, which retain this connection and express it, in part, through reincarnation. Grays are “autocreated,” that is, somehow automatically manufactured when the border between two realities tears as a result of high-energy events such as asteroid impacts, volcanic eruptions and nuclear explosions, which create “a kind of doorway.” He calls their reality “heavy-space,” which is populated by extremely dense, entropic matter most separated from the divine light and connection. (His metaphysics has some points of similarity to that of the C’s, e.g. “heavy-space” corresponds roughly to the 4D-STS state, and the doorway to a “window.”)

[The Grays’] information field can overwrite the raw material of environments with very heavy force, such as those found deep inside the Earth, where the Greys rule as “caretakers.” […] The huge pressures and forces deep within Earth perhaps facilitate this presence by providing a constant channel between that heavier density below […] and our own state of atomic density on the surface. […] Is it such a mystery that aliens should find the United States such a suitable hunting ground and her citizens such conducive subjects for their attentions? [A reference to the U.S.’s nuclear tests.]

Kerner believed the Grays are programmed to introduce their artificial DNA, along with their programming, into the human species, “influencing us to follow their artificial format.” They are driven to find a source of life with that Godform connection, parasitize it and split the difference between us, making humanity more artificial and the Grays less synthetic in the process, giving them the capacity for eternal existence via our souls – a process of “bridging” or “co-adapting” the two dissimilar species. At our deaths, the Grays would piggyback on our connection to divine unity and thus achieve access to the nonphysical post-death state, thus ensuring their survival. Kerner sees hybrids as the implementation of this project. As his assistant put it to Redfern: “They are trying to use us as a bridge into ‘soul,’ writing their programs into us through genetic engineering and implantation so that through us they can tap into an eternal existence.” (However, Kerner believed this might just doom both species.)

The Greys are basically programmed raiders without moral compunction, pirates plundering suitable living species all over the universe for a DNA base to work through, looking for a mechanism that will allow them to persist in a format that is better and more suited to them in our neck of the woods […]

More in line with the Cassiopaeans’ hyperdimensional perspective, the Reddit document above claims that the “quest for apotheosis seems to be the EBOs’ [‘exo-biospheric organisms’] main motivation.” For Strieber, the Grays exist outside of time, and thus lack the capacity for novelty, which they hope to (re)gain from us: “Just as the three-dimensional being sees solid objects that the two-dimensional beings cannot, our four-dimensional friends experience time as the fisherman does the river, as something flowing past them, not as a medium they live in and cannot see beyond.” Combining aspects of Kerner and Strieber, it may be that they seek to create a “bridge” species to piggyback on humanity’s “apotheosis” to 4D (or the achievement of what Strieber calls the “fourth [dimensional] mind”), reinvigorating their species in the process, along the lines described in the final chapter of volume 1.
